Take less injection pressure? Think they claimed more fuel efficient at that time. Pre cup engine are noisy at idle

The Lanova style chamber uses the energy cell to swirl the burning air/fuel mixture more than a flat piston does. I disagree with Lanova engines being noisy at idle over a direct injected. Direct injected engines have a distinct diesel knock at idle. My D17D is nothing near as noisy at idle as my 6.0 Powerstroke is. Both start and run like a Swiss watch.

I did a bunch of searching and reading on this subject when I was rebuilding my 45 diesel.  Here is a link to what I found - some of it was translated from German.

We also used to have a cut-away head and air-cell from a 45 diesel we used for seminar demonstrations at the orange spectacular.  This is an injection using the injector test stand with test fluid, an actual injection in a running engine would be a whole lot less. The center of the spray mostly goes into the air-cell the mist around it ignites in the main chamber.

I did some research years back and had read that part of the idea was to have a chamber of fuel left burning to help light off the next charge of fuel. I thought maybe that was why the 45's were quiet. I thought the quiet was one of the cool things about them. mine is quiet at idle

Cat doesn't spray across into energy cell. It's all "self contained" with the injector kinda sorta? Never really messed with one and been a while since seen one. What I did find interesting was, I was fiddleing with a neighbors 3406A pre cup engine.I had plenty experience with my own 3406B direct injection engine. The head looked to be made just like mine at the injector hole but with a different style injector.Otherwise the heads looked alike. My B had an adapter that screwed/sealed to the deck with o-rings through the top side of casting and injector set in it.My point is that it looked to me like Cat just removed the pre cup setup and stuck an adaptor in the head to hold a direct injection injector. Those pre cup Cat's knocked like the rods were out at idle.
