    Posted: 29 Oct 2010 at 10:15am
I just bought a tired 6080. I can't engage Pto with tractor running. It just grinds...I have tried to adjust the hand clutch, Pto will almost stop ,  I have no more adjustment. Pto still turns but with my hand and very little force I can stop the pto from turning. The fellow who owned the tractor before me said that he always had trouble with it.. Any suggestions? Thanks Pete..

The Engagement lever on the left side has adjustment, make sure it is freely moving up and down. This is a common issue on the 6000 series.

I forgot to add that we had to remove the engagement plate and redo the fork in there as it had bent from the years of using it.
Snicks right into PTO gear now.

I think this was a poor design by AC

You may have to cut some off the adjustment screw on the right side to move it futher or split the tractor and adjust fingers on clutch.
Always leave the hand lever forward when not using PTO.    MACK
