What PSI rating hydraulic hose should you run on an H3? Can't find the info anywhere on it.

But there are different PSI ratings. Hydraulic hoses are not cheap and if I'm gonna spend the money and go through the effort I want it to be right to avoid problems/blow outs as I've had a couple hoses blow in my face before on other equipment.

In the 1970s we use to use a LOT of 3000 psi hoses on the dozers coming out of the Allis Plant.. That is the RATED pressure, so its good for all day long. The BURST pressure is probably double that.
I think most of the tractors at that time were running 2100- 2500 psi operating pressure. Edited by steve(ill) - 04 Mar 2019 at 1:10pm |

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

H3 is a gear pump isn't it? If so it is likely pressure is in the 2000-2200 psi range. A 2 wire braid SAE 100R2 hose would be typical for that application range. The place you are going to get your hoses from should be able to supply that info for their hose and fittings, working psi is marked on a lot of hoses. Like pipe, the bigger the diameter the lower the working pressure. Burst pressure is 4 times working pressure by the SAE standard.
If you want to go first class go with the 4 wire spiral wrapped hose (called CAT hose by some). That is the type usually found on "piston" type pump systems and newer high pressure systems. Also hardware store pipe fittings don't belong on the pressure side of a hydraulic system and best if not in the suction either. Most are only 150 psi rated. Found this, I know it a little blurry. Maybe someone has an actual brosure for the crawlers. Am I reading that right that it only has 1500psi hydraulic system?

That looks right for a gear pump of that vintage. 1000, 1250, 1500 were common system pressures in the day for equipment with gear type pumps. You will be fine with two wire braid hydraulic hose.

On my 7G I opted for what was more common and even as heavier feel more comfortable with heavier hose as takes abrasion or bumps and snags longer, better.
