Got my "new" toy home last week.Non running condition but"everything worked when last used".Been parked a couple years but the guy who delivered it said more like 5. Turned the crank about 1/2 in with the fan before I showed interest. It came from a road oil contractor who admits it has had a rough life. LOL! Anyway,I wondered about fluids for hyd and trans.Appears to have Dexron in the tranny,at least it's red and my sniffer don't work like it used to.The hyd tank is empty but a steering cyl is dripping red fluid and I cracked a line to the bucket tilt and got red fluid there too.I would say it's got Dexron in hyd too!Would like to use AW32 for hyd but how would you ever get all the old fluid out of all the lines/cyls or is the amount so small that it doesn't matter compared to the 30 gal required. Is it a bad idea to change fluid types? Drained a tad out of trans filter hsg and has some shiney in it but maybe that is normal? 6400hrs on the clock and a decent looking piece of equipment.Delivery guy said had engine replaced a couple yrs before parked. From looks of things,I'd say long block with everything else transferred over.

I'll add this. When asking about the loader, they said the starter was locked up and it had bad fuel and they couldn't get it started.Thought it had water in it.The starter was not locked up but did need a new armature.Drained the fuel out and not a drop of water! GOOD! I'm thinking the engine won't be too much of a challenge but need the have fluids up to snuff before starting. Brake master cyls are dry so probably be wise to pull apart and clean/hone.Hope wheel cyls still work. Looks like a lot of work to get to them!

Ok, I'd still be happy to HEAR that engine run. (don't know how to edit these posts) On the HD15 to the AC collection post we did, I don't think we checked any thing until it blew smoke for a minute at least.

it call for Dexron in the tranny,
and  10w in hyd tank
but i would think Dexron or tractor hyd
would work just find in hyd tank
must be as good as late 1960 10 w oil

....well my Gleaner uses Dexron for hyd so I guess since they're cousins it would be okay in the loader?! I may see if it'll fire before doing much else. Thanks

Hyd tank not empty, just low(9 in standing).Fuel transfer pump bad so rigged a gravity tank.Four year old dead battery holding a charge and my repaired starer whirls it right over.Took a little ether to get it going.Did a lot of sputtering and dying at first and only hit on about 3 for a bit but came to life after a bit.Ran it for an hour around 1000rpm and got temp almost middle green.Infrared said water manifold was 175.Drained oil.Had some fuel in it I'd say.New oil and filters.Fires right off inside 40deg building with no help!Getting 2 new brake master cyls as these were eat up with rust. They are Ford application(good buy @ rock auto).Should get my new fuel transfer pump and rust treatment for fuel tank this week.Any of you with a 545 should check between the fuel tank and frame rails for build up of rock, sand, dirt, dead birds, etc.Mine was 6 inches deep eating away at the tank.Anyway...plenty little things to do yet but looks promising.I think Granny's about to put me to work building barns for the grandsons Christmas presents so Allis may get put on the back burner.

Thats good news Steve. I`m hearin ya on the buildup between tank and frame issue. My 605 came out of an ag fertiliser store. Was jammed solid with phosphate down there. Very corrosive stuff. What Ford vehicles are fitted with those Wheel cylinders?
