I had a guy stop in, hoping I would be able to help him with his D-14 loader (I have no clue...) . He says the loader has orange paint like the original paint on the tractor. It is a fully hydraulic loader with a PTO mounted hydraulic pump. The loader has a square metal frame and dumps hydraulically, not the tubing frame with loader, with trip bucket,  that I've seen on some D-14's.

His question is where to add hydraulic fluid. There is a plug, that looks like a vent on the side of the loader. (Sorry that I'm not doing very well describing it, but I have never seen the tractor.) He has tried adding hydraulic fluid through this "vent", but it blows it out when he raises/lowers the loader. He says he can't find any other place to fill the hydraulic system for the rear mounted pump. He also says the loader raises with jerks, which I presume is from being low on fluid.

Does anyone have any experience with a setup like this?

Jerking is an indication of air in the system. The fill/vent should be near the top of the frame. There is usually a full level plug lower on the frame. If it blows out the fill it is too full or a lot of air in the lines.

Does anyone have a picture of a loader similar to what I described, along with where hydraulic oil should be added? Is there a way to purge the air out of the system without blowing oil out the vent?

The old Char Lynn PTO pumps were there own reservoir.
