| i recently purchased a supposed 1957 wd 45. i researched the serial no. locations. the one on the left brake housing is not there i took the paint down to bare metal and still no luck. any help in locating the serial no would be greatly appreciated i want to verify the yr |

Look at the engine number and cross reference to Bryan Smiths chart. The other possibility is on the top flange of the hydraulic pump. I have several with serial numbers there, but they don't always match the tractor number.

| It's NOT ON TOP of the left brake housing. If you stand behind the tractor, it will be facing you. (I have a feeling you knew this). Scraping the paint should have revealed it. Had to do this to mine. Look some more I guess. |

i had the entire tractor down to bare metal and i couldnt find any numbers on the left brake housing kinda stumped |

| That number in front of the shifter is cast into the housing. Sorry I never looked into what it's for,but the serial number will be stamped. |

Early WD's were stamped on TOP to the right side of the left brake cover. All 45's should have a stamp on the back of the differential housing unless it has been replaced. | the man i bought the tractor from gave me the original owners manual and still no luck but ill look on the pump housing. thanks for the insight. |
