My son just bought a 200 not running.  Where do we look for the serial number?

Thanks, we found it.  64140 puts it at a 1974.

I see in Norm Swinfield's book that the 74 and 75 were reduced cost tractors.  What did AC do to reduce the costs.  Any significant changes that would be significant?

The most obvious change was the power director lever was gated as opposed to the lever that pushed down like the 190XT. There was a change in the brake mechanism. There were several changes to the 3 point lift and hydraulics also.

Better tractor than XT in my opinion.

Quite a bit better. 50% more lift, a better power director linkage, a stronger final drive, transmission improvements and also a better cab.

Front block under radiator is hollow too, in my opinion the gated PD lever is worse than the push down- if you ever think its slipping replace all bushing and fine tune the linkage for pressure at the hyd spool
