Looking to buy a NOS or rebuilt water pump for a 8550 (731 engine). Anyone have one or know where to find?

Hope you have better luck than I had last spring. I had 9 days of down time due to a water pump out on my 8550. Hi-Capacity had a re-built one, and I got it the next day, but it had an improperly installed seal, and leaked as bad as the one that had gone bad. Things went down hill from there. Possibly they would have another re-built one ready to go now, Darrel

Did you find a replacement or have yours rebuilt?

I rebuilt mine myself, got the parts from AGCO probably ten years ago. It's the same pump that used on the 844 cubic inch engines. If the parts are still available from AGCO it's not all that bad to rebuild. Might also try Minn Par. Good Luck! Mike

Might also try ILLINI Construction Parts, their add is on the parts and service page. Been awhile but good people to work with then. Good Luck!, Mike

Mark has always had one on the shelf when I needed one, and he shipped it out quick to me.

It's been a lot of years since I worked on a water pump for my 8550 but I think I still have a seal kit on the shelf. Those seals are very common or standard should I say. Like either a 5/8" or 3/4" shaft size and the OD is quite common as well. Check with a supplier for electric pressure system pumps that are common and current models.

To some of you guys still running these tractors would you be interested in buying an 8550 that has an 855 Cummins NTC350 in it? Really made a better tractor out of it. Fuel consumption is so much better on the Cummins it will pay for itself in a couple of years compared to the 731. I used to find the 731 burned 12 -14 Imp gal/hr and the 855 doing the same job was 9 - 10. The difference was being out of fuel on the first tankful by 4pm or working till 10pm with the Cummins. Also with the Cummins there is no issue getting parts. We went through the tractor in our farm shop last winter and fixed all the little things like lights, new A/C compressor, and a couple of oil leaks and did a major paint job on the old girl. Looks like new and actually runs like that too. It is a very reliable tractor. I have retired and just want to see it go to a good home. I bought this tractor in 1986 and I have spent a lot of time in my farming life with this tractor.
