Got the hydro leak fixed on the 7010 and drained the powershift fluid. The 7010 manual says to use Allis Chalmers powershift oil, is this just hydraulic fluid? If its not regular hydro fluid what do I need to use for the powershift?

If you go aftermarket as in farm stores id stay away from TSC 303 universal hyd oil, seems very thin and a 180 didn't like it, if its a powershift id use some good stuff

There are only two tyes of oil used in the 7000 series, eng oil in the eng and trans/hyd oil in the trans and rear end. the AGCO branded oil is called 821XL, most farm stores have their own branded oil-it should say on the label is it is compatable with 821XL.

While not cheap I use JD Hy-Gard as the 821 equivalent since I won't deal with the local AGCO people and don't question the quality like I do the store brands.

I'm pretty sure that any hydraulic oil bucket has a list of meets of exceeds for most equipment brands type of oil. If the bucket says in the list that it meets or exceeds allis chalmers 821 your good to go. It doesn't matter what color the bucket is or where you buy it.

most farm stores sell two or three grades of trans/hyd. oil.
Our local one's low grade said it met 821, but apparently a few tests and a threat of a lawsuit (I assume) later, they now have a flyer that says to only use the cheap stuff in stuff with low pressure hyd. systems. We personally use the better stuff at the farm and home store. I think on a powershift, I would go for the warm fuzzy feeling and go genuine Agco for it just to be cautious. lots of spendy parts in there to risk it. |

I'm confused I have been using "Xtreme" hyd. oil (from TSC) for several years in my 200 with no issues. It plainly states on the label it meets specs. of AGCO PF821 oil. A while back an employee at TSC told me "Xtreme" was no longer available so while there I bought some called "super trac"? which says on the jug it is 303 hydraulic oil and is for use in alot of listed brands including Allis Chalmers. However it does NOT specifically say it meets specs. of AGCO PF821 fluid. I have not opened it. It was cheap. Should I use it or not?

Ky Allis, If memory serves me right 303 was the Dexron Type A Hyd oil. I don't think you should use that till you know for sure. 821 is what your 7010 needs.

If TSC, they should also have Traveller brand on the shelf. Denotes 821 approved and I have used it for years in D-Series lineup without issues.
Traveller runs about 9-10.00 more for the 5 gallon bucket in my area vs. 303. I have never run 303 . . . |
