    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 at 3:52pm
Does anyone know if the power shift valve body assembly from an 8070 will bolt up to the transmission housing of a 7045?  The reason I would like to change the valve body is that the 8000 series tractors have an oil seal where the lever assembly comes out while the 7000 series tractors have an internal o-ring that is prone to wear and leak (like a major leak).

One reason the old style leaks is because oring gets cut on assembly . If you go to new style , peen around seal to keep it from coming out.           MACK

Thanks.  I'll check on prices at the salvage yards.  If I can stand the cost, I'll make the change.

I used to add a second oring groove to the old shift shafts.

Thanks, Dr Allis.  Was this a permanent fix or a stop-gap measure?

Pretty permanent. Better than one for sure. Even an 8000 needed a seal once in a while.

To keep from cutting oring, slide shaft all the way through , install oring with grease, then pull back into place.             MACK

the cab mount holes on the ps housing are different - the tool is different on the two series - have to address that issue.. we just did one.
