Greetings all...
I just purchased this plow and was informed that it was either a model 82 or a home made model 80 converted from snap coupler to 3 point... Anyone out there that has any info I would greatly appreciate it... ![]() |

Looks like an Allis 83 (3 bottom) plow that was cut down to two bottoms for a shop built conversion to 3 point. It's not an original 82 either SC or 3 point. Mike

IT HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED. Its exactly the beams of the 80 series 2 bottom mounted plow for D series tractors shown on page 303 of me plow frames parts book. You can download that same book from http://www.grandpastractor.com/phpBB3/index.php
The beaming screw is a close match to the one with the SC hitch on page 103. The beaming screw tower plates from page 103 have been moved up to make the three point hitch tower and a new end has been added to the cross shaft to put in the 3 point offset. That rod and offset hitch pin does not match any 3 point bars in my plow frames book. Only the hitch parts have been changed, the frame is exactly original. Gerald J. |

At first glance it looked cut down but looking at that I agree it likely was 82 originally but by same book it could have been a modified 83 with one bottom unbolted out. But since it HAS BEEN MODIFIED from SC to 3 point it's not longer a factory built 82 plow any longer.
DL - if you find a donor SC plow with bad bottoms you could convert it back to factory condition snap coupler mount. Would be hard to find a 3 point donor plow to make it factory 3 point. Those are uncommon enough it'd be worth more to fix up than part out. I assume you bought it because it was 3 point though. Please give it an orange bath! ![]() |

Thank you Mike...
I really appreciate it... My dad is a retired tractor and implement salesman... Was in the business from 1959-1983... Retired to the 3 small beef cattle farms we had... Sold AC tractors, New Holland balers, ect... He went with me to get the plow... He is getting somewhat forgetful and could not remember the model plow it was... I told I thought that it was an 80 series... I knew that we had a few of them in the pasture... Well... We've got 3... A 3, 4,& 5 bottom... One SC and two three point... We still have 2 D-17's, a series 3 and 4, a 180, and an 8050 on the farm... That's not counting the 800 Ford, NH 1720, and a cub low boy... All this on a non working farm... Pop is past working but he won't give anything up... Guess I'm gonna get it... I spent most of my younger days on WD's, M & A Farmalls, and the D-17's... I hope to retire to the farm in about 10 years... Yep, I've gotta get that red paint off... |

Nothing wrong with red paint, you just work it at night when no one will see you, and be sure to park it where your friends won't see it........

In my parts book the towers for three point hitches were not as substantial as on that plow from the snap coupler hitch and all the three point hitch bars for the lower hitch from AC were bent, not welded for the offset. Otherwise by the drawing in my plow book the frame has not been altered from the 2 bottom it was built as including the spacers and holes and all the hardware. Its EXACT as page 303, only the hitch is changed and they didn't change any of the frame steel to change the hitch.
