Can I use sorghum plates without spacer to plant popcorn? What do the rest of you use, I can not get my pop low enough with my corn plates. Are there special popcorn plates?

I only plant one row of popcorn so I use the sweet pea plate and put duct tape over every other hole. Popcorn plates are avaliable for my Earthway planter but I haven't ordered them.

Plate sizes will depend upon your specific seed, can't give exact #'s. You will have to get seed, test fit seed in different plates until you find one that looks good, then set planter , and do test pull on hard ground. I plant same sweet corn every year and have to use different plates every year due to seed size being a bit different.
You might try blocking off some of the plate holes and test drop from there. I have had to do that a time or two!

Our neighbor planted pop corn with a 494a JD planter and Sorgrum plates. It had a hill drop setting on it and he used that.

THATS LINCOLN AG PRODUCTS - Lincoln Ne.   any yes you must use filler plate with the AC plates or the universal plate (some refer to them as JD plates because they fit Deere w/o adapter drives like Ac and others had to have)  .    https://lincolnagproducts.com/

The spacing will be just like field corn on the chart in the op man.
