I got this planter and need some parts and also instructions.  Anybody know what model it is?  TIA

It doesn't have the seed canisters attached.  They're in the barn and they're metal...

Ted, it looks to me like a model 500, comparing it to pictures in Norm's book. Of course I could be all wet.

Thanks Mike, but I was on the AGCO site and couldn't even find a 500 model..........

The site shows;
330, 333 Series Pull Type Planter Frame
385 Planter; Pull Type / Tool Bar; 4, 6, 8 And 12 Row
390 Series Pull Type Planter Frame
600 Series Pull Type Planter Frame
600 Series Unit Type Planter
700 Series Unit Type Planter
71 / 72 / 73 / 74 Series Plate Type Planter
77 / 78 / 79 Series Air Type Planter
770 Air Champ Pull Type Planter

But no 500.

How do I find manuals and or parts if I don't know the model??

Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,ANYBODY??

It's a Model 500.
I've got ours right down to the small square boxes on the back and the book.
And, the fertilizer boxes on the front.
It's what we used when I was growing up.
I think Captain Dan has one that he acquired awhile back.
Want a pic? Send me your number.

I just pulled out the operator's manual.
It says on the front:

333 series
144" - 176" - 244" Frames

So Ted, I'll bet that if you go back and look into the 333 series on the site, you'll probably find what you're looking for.

That's a 500 .  I don't think they are on the agcopartsbooks.com as none of the #'s for the
frame would come up as in markets frame or marker latches.
The last parts book they were listed in was 79001730 in 1970.
The book is titled 500 600 tool bar mounted.
The units are 50 series with what looks to be standard runner openers.  The pic is fuzzy so I can't see if it was a hill drop or not = probably not.  Later they called the 51 series units.  As on the later 70 series the 71 designated  runner and 2 as in 72 designated double disc.   The units had two different hoppers - a std or tube metal hopper and a high capacity funnel shaped hopper.  The  markers both lifted when the planter was raised and then the operator pulled a rope which release a latch pn 700341996 which dealers stocked by the dozens as we called them 'gate post latches'.  (similar to the 66/72 gate post pulley on the back of the pull types)

Ted, did you get the PM I sent you regarding planter, #52 has disc openers, #51 has runners.
This planter is, as others stated already, a 500 planter.  The units could be different.

I have to agree with that Festus!!  I've done the same thing when I don't know squat.
Apparently not too many guys had these or know anything about them.

Joe, yes I got your PM.  That pic doesn't help much though.  I need to know how things go together and how it all works.  It's pretty much in pieces.

I did get lucky, there was a manual on ePay for the 500 planter, so I ordered it.  Hopefully it'll tell me what I need to know.

But I have to say thanks guys, you've sent me in the right direction anyway.  If nothing else, trial and error.......it's not like I haven't done that before, the error I mean...LOL

I bought a 500 planter three years ago and yours looks like mine, except mine has hill drop. Welcome to the nightmare that is agco parts!! I had the same problem with finding parts or parts men that could help. I finally found help at  the dealership in Marysville, Mo.

The planter looks like the one that was called a wheel track planter. Look at the hitch and how its offset to have tractor run for two rows and other two have tires in front of the units. This was used on plowed ground so you didn’t have to work the ground before planting. There were not a lot of setup this way.

Have you got any info for that dealership Hobart?
Actually, what I should do is git my butt in gear and go visit Jim Palmer Jr. and see what he's got or can help with.  He works at an AGCO dealership near Postville Ia.

BUT,,,,,,keep the ideas coming guys!!  Maybe somebody can explain why the 500 is not listed in the AGCO books?

There is one on tractor house. I got a bunch of planter manuals I'll look tonight and see if there is a 500 in the bunch. Don't help with the parts thing though. Sorry I'm learning too. Scott

Ziegler Ag Equip.  take only to Albert in parts, ex AC mechanic turned parts man660-582-5150 or 800-589-2426 . I think  AGCO don't show parts because they only made it for a short time and there are not a lot out there for parts sales
