Pictures of my plow

Here are a few pictures of my plow (I hope they uploaded).

I bought it up in Caledonia, WI, along with a two row cultivator for my CA. As a side note, be sure you know what state the sellers town is in, as there are multiple towns with the same name in differing states. How I know that is called experience.

I was thinking it is a 50s series frame, but am not positive. the bottoms are marked NO. 24-14 R.H. referring to moldboard style and width a presume. An ID tag behind the front plow has this number pressed in it 3(4)or(1)7360. My tractor is the pin hitch type, so I will need to swap out a few parts before hooking it up to the tractor, which is currently having surgery.

Plenty of SC Bells out there if you wanted to convert the tractor vs. implements, makes things plenty easy when you just back into the implement and she snaps in. If you do pick up a bell assy. for your tractor, make sure the spring is in good condition before using . . .

Tim, I looked at going that route, but decided against for a couple reasons. One, I would have to remove the bell in order to run my belly mower and two, the cost was significant. I thought it might be easier to find parts to go the opposite direction of the majority of folks with a CA. We'll see.

I looked at the plow this morning, it has a welded frog and welded draw rod bracket. I went through the plow book and printed off the pages with the pertinent parts.

I loved to plow with the CA and the plow you have - the 52.  You will find it to be a "neat" plowing tractor that will do you a very good job.

Coulter blades do wear and came in different sizes. Generally the round mounting shank was plenty long to allow setting them fairly close to the tip of the shares. The closer to the tip of the shares the more they get clogged when plowing corn stalks. So some plowers would prefer they didn't go so deep in the ground. Plows can work without coulters, just they don't cut as smooth a left side of the furrow especially in sod and sometimes the plow pulls harder. But when the coulter fills the space between the coulter and the moldboard left side with corn stalks that plow pulls very hard too. It can be a pain to have to stop and unclog that space every 500 feet. Moving the coulter forward and up can help slow the clogging. Allis coulters are very adjustable.

The gentleman I bought the plow and cultivator from had two complete sets of cultivators. The one I bought was mounted on his tractor at the time of the sale, and he was very thorough to include all the parts.

There was a gentleman in Ashton, IL that owned Weishaar Implement. He was of great help back when I was going through the D17. Sadly he has passed now.
