Hello
Please post any pictures of your A's and would like to know how many others are in Ohio? Dad has owned an A for many years. It was repainted and gone through in early 60's when he 1st got it. We're redoing it again. It doesn't have electric start or lights. Sure wish it had electric start!!!! Hope we can finish it in time for the show in July.
Thanks
Jeff

Dave sets a pretty high bar, but I was always fairly good at limbo so here goes a pass just under what he set.

We had two for several years but recently sold one. Kept this one that Dad owned. 1938 low grade fuel. Picture was taken at Plain City the last time A-C was featured. I remember seeing your dad's A in the shed at the dealership many years ago.

Thanks for the pictures Guys! Decision's, decisions on color to paint? I prefer one and dad another! Would love to bring Dad to Fred's place to see Woody and all the other goodies Fred has. And Dave's Diesel A is one of a kind! |

If the tires on some A's look small, they probably are. The original tire was a 13.50 -28. This was an airplane tire size used on the original 8" wide rims. Later, when they decided to use a wider rim that same tire was resized to a 15-28, which was the tread width. Later the tire sizes were changed again to reflect total carcas width when mounted on the recommended width rim, and now the 15-28 became an 18.4-28. So the correct tire size for an A would be an 18.4-28 on a 16" wide rim. You can also use the 18.4 on the original 8" rim, but the sidewalls will be pulled in and the rim depth on the old 8" rims is 1.4 inches VS 1 inch on the new tires, so they may look a little odd, but they will work.
Based on 17 years experience in the farm tire industry at Good Year's Kelly Springfield tire plant in Freeport, IL.
