I'll get in trouble for this, but I always mix 1.5 to 1. 1.5 being the paint, and the 1 being reducer and hardener.

My can of Agco paint states only if necessary it can by reduced at the rate of one pint per gallon. Or about 8 to 1 rate. Ryan

Normally it will say on the can, for brushing you don't need to reduce. If spraying reduce at such and such ratio. (Thick paint won't spray/give good spray pattern without reducing). I would put a little less reducer in than called for and try it. If you put in too much reducer you will need to spray/move the gun faster so you don't get runs and you will probably need an extra coat to get the correct coverage.
The air pressure at the gun tip needs to be correct and the spray pattern needs to look like a football. |
