Well, after renting barn storage for 7 years, I need to bring 2 tractors home.

I have a WD with mounted 33 Picker, and also a D19 D that I need to buy something to protect them from the winter snow.

Thinking of the Canvas Carports that TSC sells, maybe 10x20 size?

I would need to buy 2 of those, or I could buy a metal carport? Maybe a little bigger 12x25 and fit both of them under it?

Trying to stay cheap, but make sense too on this purchase. The mounted picker I can Detach the elevator and set it on the ground inside.

What would you do?

Any canvas or flexible material will eventually rip or tear . Check manufacturers warranty. If you plan on building permanent building in a couple years a glorified tent may work for a while as long as the wind isn't too strong and the snow isn't too deep . If it going to be a while before you can get a building built a metal roof carport would be better, but these things can blow away d get crushed by snow load .

I bought a 20 x 20 steel car port and had it put up at the Sons house 15 years ago. He had no garage and we keep a couple small tractors and tools inside... Built a garage and 5 years later he sold the building to his buddy for 50% of what we paid for it.. Still in the guys back yard today.

I made 9by12, studs,ply,tinroof sheds for my 3 D-14s and forklift,6-8 years ago.
You could have them for free as city says they HAVE to go(just found out last night, grrrr).
Back then it cost me $500 in materials 40%wood,40% tin, 20% screws/tape.
Withstood a LOT of snow, rain, wind. EAST to make, homemade trusses, 2- 2x4 for top and btm sill plates, 3/8 ply for walls.
FAR better than any tube and plastic 'carport'.
can send more details if you want.

this gives you an idea.... 12 ft wide and 24 ft long... room for " extras".... you can get a few pieces of tin and screw to walls to extend down toward ground... or stop up a couple feet........ They bring out and install on you level spot.... half a day and its DONE.

metal carport is the way to go.  i live in NE where you can leave the main opening to the east and a door, really isn't needed.   they will install sides and one end on those buildings. best route for what your looking for.   you can go long and narrow or wider and fit the location you have for it.  they also sell different types of tiedowns!

i bought a versa tube steel car port about 40 years ago, it's still being used in my driveway. it has withstood several 80 MPH winds with no damage, all that is holding it in place are 3-6 ft re-bars with a nut welded on one end. pounded right down into the ground, no concrete. i also bought 3 soft shelters from TSC about 5 years ago...2 are just bare steel framework now, never put the 3rd one up. the sun has made the covers brittle and the wind tore them all up. the framework is still good, and i might try to put some tin on them. go with the metal storage. you can get them any size you want/need, mine i had it made taller so i could pull a load of grain in under it if needed, my 7010 fit under it to drive thru too as did my 350 bu gravinty flow wagon.

I don't know about you guys but I would definitely prefer the outdoor shelter.  Built inside would be a real pain in the butt!

earlier this year I had an enclosed carport put up, it's basically a shed. It's 45X30x14 hi.
It was put up in one day in Jan when it was 10*. I will be using more of their buildings. American Steel, based out of Texas, but they have a big factory 45 minutes away in Kewanee IL. Had it put up on an old cement pad from the previous building. Not perfect, but works good enough. I did have to get a permit from my town, but it was $125 or so. Building was 16 put up. One walk in and 2 roll up doors, 12X12 on end, and 12X10h on side.

Check to make sure what local permits are.  Here anything 400sq ft and larger requires a permit and all kinds of red tape.  Neighbor had a 19X21 installed, as long as it's portable, nothing is required.
Maximum use of available resources!
