Best way to handle them is let them drain completely overnight. Have a couple 7060's with them, 7080 has been converted to spin-on style. The "750" sized one on the 8550, 4W305 could also be a pain, I always had extra 0-rings just in case! , Mike

Well I just learned something. I always saw late model 7000 series tractors with the oil bypass filters, but never brown belly tractors. I never understood why. If you don't mind me asking, is this something that can be added to ANY 426 engine, or just certain years. Is it something simple to do or a PITA?

tthams, I don't see any reason a bypass filter couldn't be added to any 426, I would get the lines, and filter head and bracket, and fittings, from a salvage yard, that's what I did.
not too much trouble to install, need to remove the starter to access the one fitting,,,then there's that air condition line,,,,well,, you can see the way I done mine now if ya want this monstosity cannister thing, you can have it,, I need to remove a bracket from the tractor yet, and the fittings go in the same locations,,

Again thanks for sharing your project. I have always thought it would be nice to have the bypass filter on the 7060, but didn't think it could have been done, or it would have been done by now. I have seen nasty ones done to other tractors that just didn't look good. Yours looks awesome, and like it belongs there.
If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the filter housing?

I got the whole thing, bracket, lines, fittings for less than $100 at Worthington tractor parts there is an 8050, and another 7000 series there with this setup,oh,,that's no shipping,I stopped by there on my way to Hutch.
BTW,this is a factory setup, may have been dealer add on though.. Edited by Michael V (NM) - 31 Aug 2021 at 12:21pm |
