Two years after AGCO's big annoucement you are starting to see AGCO tractors showing up at other dealers lots around here. I guess I first took note of it a few weeks back when on a trip to Lincoln, Nebraska, when I seen a couple of AGCO DT200 series tractors, one on a John Deere lot and the other on a New Holland lot. Here are a few around here locally...
![]() ![]() A couple of AGCO tractors on a Buyer/Seller's lot.

Anybody else seeing the same thing? Got any pics?

Yeah , noticing more on the lots ,All other brand lots !!! most dealers I,ve talked to are afraid they wont even be able to give them a way ! None of them have faith in Agco to be a major player in the NA markets , or to support the new models with the electronic stuff ???? Supposedly the electronic stuff is things nobody else is using ???? Dont know much on that as an AC 180 OR 190XT dont have that on it !!! Who knows ? Have been seeing more Challengers around though - [ wait i gotta puke ] !!! |

Actually I look at it another way.
More AGCO showing up on dealer lots, also means there are more of them out there to be traded.
Remember back in the late '90s and early '00s there wasn't an orange tractor used sitting on anyones lot.
So what I am saying is, there are more out there, a lot on AGCO lots, and that also means a few on Green and Red and Blue lots.

I think a new John Deere takes a technition about 2 hours with a laptop as part of the predelivery setup. This is the wave of the future, tractors that Email the dealer when something is going wrong and tells them where to come and fix it. Only a matter of time before they drive themselves! And they'll all have decals all over that say, "NO USER SERVICABLE PARTS INSIDE!"
On the other hand I haven't seen any used RT or DT series tractors on any lots around here. Personally I'd have no problem trading my 8070 for a DT series (other than coming up with the difference) as I belive AGCO will be around quite awhile and these are as well designed and built as anything else out there. Low resale means cheap horsepower! Edited by Dave in il - 25 Aug 2011 at 9:24pm |

"the wave of the future" is not always a good thing! take for instance (off topic of farm equip) our communications dept had to spend like $80,000,000.00 to get the newest computerised equipment to keep the pubic and law enforcement and fire depts safer! each portable radio costs over $5000. ea. but to keep going, had to buy 2 portables for "just in case" one malfuctions! well our dept has over 2000 radios, 1/2 of them are now broken, (quit working) and out of warranty! the computerized cad systems in communications are always breaking down or in need of updates very often! they can't keep the computerized radios and terminals in the vehicles because they are plagued from vibrations! we have 5 people working 24/7 keeping all this up and running! all this is only 2-10 years old as we have to keep replacing the junk computerized stuff! oh...yeah...back in 1971 when i started, we had what they called "low band" radio's, we could talk on them to the cars for almost 50-75 miles! this new stuff will get us about 10-12 miles. like i said before...a diesel engine does not require a computer to make it run...and run well! look how much cheaper everything would be without computers in farm equipment and your trucks and cars! safe to say $10,000-$20,000 on tractors and combines? i like my home cheapy computer for chatting with ya'll, and for looking up things and places, but it is a quite expensive deck of cards! pffft!

Was an AGCO at the CaseIH dealer in Kasson a couple months ago. I worked there for 4 years and had only an old 190 and an 8070 with bad PS back in late 90's and none since until this AGCO.

Having been in the electronics/communications businees sounds like the municipality got what it paid for. Just a guess but I bet they competed the bid and the lowest bidder got it. They likely did very little shock and vibration testing if any so now you have radios that don't last. It's unfortunate the push to save money up front is so great no one thinks about the long term. I see it happen every day. You save a buck up front and end up sepending five down the road.

Here's how it's going to work real soon.
"Hello this is AGCO-On-Star can I be of assistance?"
Doubt it.
"We noticed that your ground speed was zero but the rear tires were still moving"
No kidding.
"Are you OK? Do you need assistance?"
I'm stuck you idiot. I doubt you have a shovel and will come help me. Stupid high tech crud.
"We'll dispatch a trac-hoe to your location right away."
You will!??? Gosh I love this stuff!

I guess it's not much different than the automotive side. Try and buy other than a PCM for something like a Caddy or Lincoln that's more than 10 years old. Big $$ if you find them.

The only problem is the AGCO On Star operator is from India and you can't understand a word he/she says. |

What is wrong with Agco setting up a plant in China? Every other major manufacturer is.
Why is it good business for Deere and CNH to do it but an evil plot to sell junk if Agco does it?
They would be stupid if they didn't set up in a huge market.

I don't think anyone is all that excited about having their farm equipment built in China, no matter the color of the paint. I haven't read many positive comments on the Deere planter parts with "China" stamped or cast into them.

Tractor manufacturers don't just expand production into China to lower the cost of products shipped into the US, they do it to make it easier to sell product in Asian and other markets. What we may think of "China" stamped or cast into the product is less important than what the Asian customers think. If they're good with it, AGCO should expand into China to reach these other markets.

I work in the automotive aftermarket & electronics & computers are what all the manufactuers are using. I have lots of calls for PCM's and electronic solenoids and so forth finding them for cars is hard enough. Some PCM's we send in to have rebuilt & need just about every piece of info on the vehicle. I dont know how hard it will be to find electronics for tractors in the future but I dont think it will be to easy for any brand.
