My sister sent this PM to me today.
"I think you might have orange blood in your veins. I joined House of Grimmet (surnames various forms of McIlvaine...) Facebook page. They were asking a while back if anyone was interested in getting a lightweight sash from the MacElvain ancient tartan, so I said I would be interested in ordering a couple. They got enough interest to get House of Tartan to produce the material for it, and they made it into sashes. I ordered 2 as soon as they had them ready, and I got them a couple days ago. The background color is orange, and it has green, a small amount of blue, and a thin line of black. Not sure when or if I'll wear mine, but it's pretty cool. Thought maybe you would like the other one as a gift, being that it's orange and all......... "Since we have a good % of Scott in our blood, more than just the McIlvaine line, I probably will have to find me a good sash pin and wear this sometime(s). I thought it was interesting to be mostly Orange with Green(kinda like the early Allis Green) with the stripes the colors(Blue and Black) of the decals on the early Orange tractors. I guess I'm getting a late birthday present ![]() ![]() Edited by CTuckerNWIL - 07 Apr 2018 at 7:49pm |

It's just a sash, so I may have to find a matching kilt. Then I could air out once in awhile
Kinda interesting that the colors the old clan used showed up in life before I knew much about the ancestors. I always thought I was half Dutch, but sister had DNA test, and it seems our Dutch line came from a northern area where almost no Germanic traits are found. A bit of Scandinavian and other northern European, without being Dutch persay. Edited by CTuckerNWIL - 08 Apr 2018 at 7:12am |

Yep very interesting. Its kind of fun to trace back your history. We have traced back our history to the 1400's in Lanarkshire Scotland. DNA proves we're mostly Scottish also. We have our Anderson tartain which is mostly blue based with 7 colors in it. Won't catch me in a kilt though.
