Need recommendation how to get the lift arm on my Allis Chalmers 160 to function properly. Tractor starts and the lift arms raise but will not lower. I even tried to weigh them down with an implement with no luck.

takes pressure to make the valves work  - loosen the line on the top of the pump and see if has lost its prime  - due to worn pump and or stopped up strainer under the seat.
When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money..

The lift arms will lower after the pump line was loosened. Or let it sit idle for a day or so. The strainer was checked.

I'm not familiar with the 160 hydraulics, but have you checked the position control linkage to see if it is working properly?

Please recommend a manual to help me troubleshoot this lift issue. I really would like to be able to use the lift.
