How rare were 23.1x30s on a 190 XT Ser 3? I have a chance to buy one and am wondering if they make the tractor worth a little more than if it had 34s? I have never seen another one in person with 23.1x30s only a few in pictures.

not as many as 18.4 X 34, but it really doesn't add value, unless they were new tires, then that would, but not because the size, because they were new lol! The 23.1 X 30 is probably more expensive new, and very hard to find nice used ones.

I would say that 23.1 x 30 are not rare but uncommon. Almost none in this area. Were not popular if you drove in the furrow to plow. I have a pair to put on my OneNinety NF.
I think they look good. Yes good used tires are almost impossible to find. I bought a Gleaner G at Nesbitt's sale last year just to get the almost perfect original BFG Silvertown 23.1 x 30 tires. Payed $500 and also took the 301 engine and left the combine behind for scrap.

I have one. The original owner used to plow with it with a 4 bottom plow, it does fill the furrow though. I have them set all the way in and have used the tractor when corn and beans are small to go down 30 inch rows but there is not much wiggle room. The tractor has never had duals on, always did pretty good without them. I would think one with duals would look pretty mean and should darn near walk on water. That tire size was popular in the early 70's other brand used them on tractors, case 2470, for one and some combines. Didn't some D21's come with 23.1s? I have always wondered what a 190 or 200 would look like with 24.5 x 32s?

Tim in the 20+ years I sold and installed rear tires, I put 1 set of 23.1X30's on an XT.   They were a bear to put on.

A lot of early 190XTs had 23.1 30s and people replaced them with tires they could on row crops.

Thinking about why they had those tires on, correct me if I am wrong, but the 190 was the big tillage tractor at the time and an older smaller tractor pulled the planter and cultivator. Corn was in wide rows and you could get those tires down wide rows. Any one have a good guess when 30 inch rows  became popular?

You can get by plowing with 23.1 x 30's  with 18" bottoms, wouldn't  look so well with 16' bottoms.  My dad ordered a new 7000 in 1976 with 23.1 x 30's ($1085 option) and plowed hundreds of acres with 18" bottoms.  His  7000  had 23.1 x 30 duals aswell,  unfortunatly I cannot dig up any pictures of it with the  duals on.   I feel  a 18.4 x 38 far better tire size in the mud though

Dad traded the 7000 in 1982, the tractor stayed local so  he  got behind the wheel again 40 years after he originally  purchased it and took it for  run.
