I had to replace the pto clutch on my Cub Cadet LT1042.
The OEM replacement was something like $350 and the non OEM from Hexautoparts was more than $100.
I bought this aftermarket pto clutch. It was identical, and I mean in every detail, except for the Cub Cadet logo embossed on the back.Even the part number stamped on the back was identical except that the part number from the old one ended in a Cub Cadet It was made in China and easy to install. My Cub Cadet is nice and quite again!!
All in all, saved me a couple hundred dollars and my lawer mower is cutting grass again.
Then I recommend to my neighbor. He also bought a pto clutch online but from Ebay, more cheaper.
But he told me the electronic ignition of new aftermarket pto clutch died so he had to buy the OEM replacement. That thing didnt fit at all. All the terminals on it were in different places and none of the wires reached to their terminations. He ended up just letting it dangle in the air suspended by the wires because that's the only way it could be installed.
Cub Cadet may have a reputation for quality but sometimes it isnt warranted, right ?

Well Cub Cadet is made by MTD,has been for years and they don't make the PTO, just install so you did GOOD.
Question. Have you got the Kohler Courage 20HP engine in yours? If so, quick like a bunny, remove blower cover and flywheel and check ALL the crancase bolts !!! NOW, I'm serious. Mine let loose with less than 90 hrs on it...cracked block, messy. It is a KNOWN problem, when dealer serviced, they check the bolts!
While I patched mine, it still weeps a bit, but yeesh <100 hrs on it  what's a guy to do ?
