Has anyone heard from hamman01? Name is Roger and lives in Lewiston, MI. I sold him a starter over 2 years ago and sent it to him. Not only did I loose the money for the starter but I also paid the shipping! I try to trust people and help them out and this is the thanks I get. 2nd time I've been burned here.

well from the sounds of it you know his name. you know where he lives. i assume you know his address so you should be able to find a phone number and call him. it sucks when you sell something and not get paid for it

Similar thing happened to my Dad, only he sold a semi load of hay to an out of state guy that answered my Dad's "hay for sale" ad in local newspaper. Guy showed up with his young son & his oil burning semi. Dad did not get money up front. We loaded semi and helped the guy fill his oil burning diesel with a gallon of used oil(his choice). Time went by and no money. So one day, Dad tells Mom to get ready for out of state drive. Story goes that Dad, with Mom sitting in car, showed up after breakfast at this guys place to find him working on his semi. Dad explained the past hay transaction to the guy. The guy turns to his son and says go in the house & get this man his payment. Both Dad & Mom were nervous that the son could be returning with a gun. Instead, the son returns from the house with a shoebox of cash. At Dad's word, the guy handed him the settled amount in cash.

If you know more detail about this hammon person maybe you should post them here, as maybe someone on this forum lives near him. Might "encourage" him to pay up if his true ID cane be found out.

My neighbor sold a low-boy semi-load of big bale straw to a guy, and he was going to come back the next day for another load. He was going to pay for both loads the second day after getting the weights at the local scale. On his way to the scale on day 1, the driver was smoking, and flicked his butt out of the cab. Landed on the straw on the trailer. Driving down the road, he sees flames in his rear view mirror, stops the truck, pulls the pin, and manages to drive the tractor out from the burning trailer. By the time the fire company arrived, the aluminum trailer was melted to the pavement.
Amazingly enough, the driver came back the next day with another trailer, weighed it, and payed double that load to pay for the burnt load. Sometimes there are nice guys out there.

I like when a new customer comes to pick up their tractor after repairs and tells you as soon as they walk in ,I forgot my check book .I will send you a check when I get home .
They do not like when they need to come back with payment witch they knew in the first place .Then they get their tractor . Sometimes its weeks until they come back .If it dose not leave ,they will come back sooner . Its not often this happens ,but why should you have to chase them down . |

Gosh, I dislike stories like this, as the fellow may have passed but as Josh says, he was on here in April of this year which is still a year after he promised to pay. Googlemaps and GoogleEarth show the house and yahoomaps gives a woman's name as living at that address. Lots of contact info if you really want to track him down,,,, Just goes to show,,,you really can't hide anymore,,,, |

When I sold hay I had it set up with the Elevator that when the buyer weighted loaded the Elevator collected for me.
One guy said he wanted X number loads. I said OK and told him about paying for every load at Elevator. He never came back after first load. Dusty

I've had things like that happen, and it used to upset me, until I had exactly what 7060 said... sold a guy a radio, but before I got paid, the gent had suffered an aneurism and then passed away. I've also sent things to people who lost contact, and couldn't figure out who sent'em. I didn't understand it three decades ago, but seems that as I get older, I do... it kind of happens.
And since it happens, and although it's money, and it's money, I remember what my Dad tells me... it's JUST money. I'd rather have a friend alive and healthy that owes me, than one that becomes disabled or passes away. I'm not frequently cheated, but I'm frequently forgiving... someday, I'll probably need that favor. Some people refer to it as 'turning the other cheek'. Best of luck to both of you, I hope it turns out well.

I had a "neighbor" try that crap on me, trying to dodge a delivery charge for a tractor, I picked up for him. Parked it where he could see it, whizzed on the seat, every night for a week till he coughed up what was due me...
