I just bought a No. 7 pull type sickle mower for 100 dollars. It seems complete, it even has the original ball in the ball hitch still. I'd like to first get it back into working condition and then repaint it to take to shows behind my CA. what is the parts availability on these? Are they a good mower? I won't be using it to cut hay, maybe some roadsides and an occasional pasture for friends. I've got a manual for it too, but it doesn't really show how it would've been painted and where the decals were on it if any at all.

I'm probably gonna need new guards and knifes. I know it needs a belt. Haven't gotten it into the shop to really check it out yet.

Parts to look at are the knife drive stuff, the cross bar and bearings and particularly the cross hatched bushing and knife head. Cross bars seem to be made of unobtainium...
