Hey everyone,

I have been lurking around for a while, and waited till today to join (7/31 or 731, in regards to the 8550 / 4W305's engine! :) )

My name is Robert Borneman I am 21 years old, and I live on the farm on NW KS, or the original family farm at SC ID for a month during summer harvest. We farm primarily, and dad dabbles in used farm equipment sales (does a better job buying than selling :) ) during the winter, so we are always going to auctions. The family farm is rented out in ID, so we do custom harvesting with a fleet of L2s and M2s in the area.

I personally dont have squat other than brochures and some mowers, but my old man has quite the vintage AGCO equipment collection, Whites, Allis', and especially Gleaners.

We agree on the superiority of the Gleaner combine, but dad leans more towards the Whites, and I lean towards the Allis', so that means anything orange on the place might be bought off of dad when I get out on my own!

otherwise, dad owns a few 7000 series (some run, some various stages of disrepair), 1 8000 series (8030 SN 1001 in fact) the aftermentioned 4W305, and most interesting, a 220 FWA. He has some implements, a dealer sign, and some NOS parts (that I tell him are worth something, but he continues to use them, and mark on the boxes with sharpie) oh the shame! :)

anyways, glad to be a part of the forum, you guys look to be a great crew that gets along pretty well!

Glad you joined us. Sounds like Dad has a good collection, just gets mixed up on color choice now and then. He probably has earned that right though so be gentle with him.

Welcome to the family of Orange Robert! Hope you enjoy yourself here. There is a whole lot to learn and you'll learn here for sure. There's folks here that eat, sleep, and bleed Orange, and you can't find this type of information in a Library that's fir' sure! And remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question!

We're like a bunch of kids or at least siblings, we play nice, and then have our little squabbles, specially on the politics page, then not quite kiss and make up! But like all good family fights, they can be sterling entertainment to watch from the sidelines. One thing, you probably never will be bored with us!!!! And like anything the more you get involved the more fun you'll have! I for one would like to hear your stories about farming in the high and dry country!  Welcome! joe

thanks for the warm welcome!

some more info, dad is more an oliver guy than anything, likes his 50 series, nice balance of modern power and durability, without the complex hydraulics. he has a few in FWA also. Oliver is the right shade of green! :) the white collection comes from his enjoyment of the 478 hercules, so he has a 77 2-155 and a 79 2-135. kida likes the fuel economy of the 3208, so he has a runner and a project 4-150, and a running 4-210.

cant get pics of the 220 right now, it is in KS and we are in ID on harvest. can get pics of the 8030 though. does anyone know what 8000 series model was the first released? this one is the first 8030 of course, but if the model 8030 was the first of the series built, that would be pretty cool too!

another detail I forgot, dad owns a maroon belly 7040 PD short axle factory wheatland, no provision for the rockshaft. used the axlehousings with the draft arm hookup though. big wide swing rolling drawbar.

well guys, I must apologize, it appears I lied. We dont have serial number 1001 8030. I never verified it, and I misunderstood dad when he bought it, "one of the first" was interpreted as "the first:.

it is SN 1002 though, and I will try to get some pics this week. I tried uploading, but I take it they need re-sized?
