    Posted: 01 Dec 2016 at 10:46am

I have a 7010 that never gets driven on the pavement.  The rears are worn out.  Are there any downsides to using the R-2 (rice & cane mud tires) over the standard R-1's?

I get get tired of spinning around in the hay feed lot in the winter.  This tractor is used mostly for haying.  It does not have a front end loader.

Thanks,
Roscoe.

I think it would still be rough riding and maybe tear up your field a little more.  We had a combine one time with them, in a hard field it was rough.

I would go with a deep tread rather than rice and cane tires.       MACK

I was worried about the rough ride part.  I ave looked for the R-1W tires (wet, deep tread), but i so far have only found them in radials, which are about twice the price.

I'll keep looking.

Anyway, here is an eBay link to the Firestone R-2 tires:

Rosco I have installed many semi loads of farm rears in my lifetime and I never installed a set of Rice and Cain tires. I an in south central Iowa. I have taken quite a few of them off and put on Firestone, Titan, Goodyear, and many no name rears. I have put on quite a few Firestone Deep treads for loader tractors. I don't know if they are made anymore. I would not put the R&C on and run hard or frozen ground. I do not think they are designed for it. I would think a European style tread might work for you. They are designed for the peaty type soils over there.
