Yesterday there is a big sale about 40 minutes from home. The farm used to use a lot of ACs so I had to go and take a look. Talking to people there, word is the owner was not very good when it came to maintenance, but at least the equipment was not all smashed up.
Here are pics and what they brought ... L2 (tan interior) with 3 heads sold for $14500 (package) ![]() 7580 with leaky fuel tank and couldn't move - would grind going into gear sold for $5700 (duals were new!) ![]() 7045 powershift with 9000 hours sold for $6750 ![]() 1980 7010 powershift (showed 4100 hours, but had much more) brought $7100 ![]() Early 6080 4wd with Allied loader and Year Around cab with 7900 hours - had major problems. Bad engine but ran with a loud knock, also steering didn't work. Sold for $5400 ![]() 1980 185 with new 38" radials, older repaint, a lot of blowby out the valve cover vent tube. Showed 2500 hours. I bid up to $6400, but sold for $6800. ![]() 1973 175 diesel with new 30" radials (6900 hours) brought $4600 ![]() WF pulled from fence row, complete but not running sold for $400 ![]() ED40 pulled from fence row, complete but not running sold for $350 ![]() WD45 nf with loader pulled from fence row, not complete and not running sold for $250 ![]() WD complete, engine free but not running brought $675 (in background) and early D17 pulled from fence row (not complete and not running) brought $150 ![]() 1964 303 square baler which I bought for $350 (now sitting in my shed). Looks like it was stored inside, should be able to grease it up and try running it in the summer. ![]() And finally, the guy had a couple of newer Ford tractors with cabs. They all had this sign on the back ... ![]() Overall, a good day even with mud up to your ankles! |

Congrats on the baler. Wow some of the tractors from the fence rows look better than the stuff I bring home! Ok maybe the D17 is missing a few parts.
That WF looks to be ready to run? Thanks for taking the pictures and posting them and the pricing too. Regards, Chris |

Sounds like you got the only buy of the day. The seller had to be somewhat please with those prices.

Myron,
I surprised you didn't snag that WF! Doesn't look to bad for $350. Good parts Tractor if anything, but that looks like that would be a runner again. Baler looks pretty nice! Good luck with it. Hope it works out for ya..! Steve |

Snow a couple of days before the sale. At the start of the sale it was around 12F, but warmed up nicely and thawing everything out. 4 Wheel drive trucks had to be pulled out of the yard with the 7010! |

It looks like the only good deals were the ones pulled out of the fence row. The baler was a good deal, IMHO.

I wonder how many of those 'fence row' ones went to a Scrap Dealer ? Eg. D-17 for $150 ? Gary |

That's pretty guaranteed sad to say. I was thinking of buying that D17 to part out, but I already have enough things to keep me busy. |

I can't imagine scrap prices are any better in Canada then they are in the US so the cheap ones may someday become scrap or hopefully parts tractors first.

Everything went pretty high imo. Except the baler you got. I just saw two of them sell at an auction in albers last week. One went for 500 and it was rusty. Other looked real nice and went over 600 I think.

Pretty High ?? LOL Id hate to see your low figures. You sound like a guy who would expect a widowed farm lady to 'pay you' to haul there obsolete Allis Tractors away. Am I close ? Gary |

dont get me wrong as a fellow owner of a few AC's I want them to bring as much as possible! Im just saying they went high compared to local auctions Ive been too. and I was referring to the big stuff mostly. i honestly dont think ive seen a 7000 series sell over 5k at auction in the last few years. but then again there havent really been any nice ones either.
as far as the fence row stuff yeah that was cheap as it should be. scrap inflated the price of stuff like that now even though its low again people still bid according to $200 scrap even though they are lucky to get $60 right now. Edited by Dmpaul89 - 06 Apr 2016 at 3:57pm |

I'm with Dmpaul on this one. Most of that went on the high side compared to our area. A 6080 with a bad engine for $5400??? That's seems way high to me. I'm happy for the owner, they seemed to have done well.
As to the scrap issue, scrap is waaay down now, last I checked it was $40.00/ton, so hopefully they'll become parts tractors. Edited by Play Farmer - 06 Apr 2016 at 4:48pm |

Scrap steel is .025 Here as of last week.
If all of us that liked the WF had been there it would have went high too. Lucky buyer on that. |
