We had a Westfield 8-31 auger for years with a Briggs twin cylinder 16 hp motor. Plenty of power. Now we have a 10-31 with a Kohler 19 horse engine. Never come close to a power problem.

Depends on how steep of an angle you are going up. Also depends on the crop, soybeans auger harder then corn. Last thing is what pulleys are used, one place I pick up corn they have a 3 or 5 hp electric but the auger is so slow it takes an hour to load a semi.

i have spec.ed a 18 hp. briggs vanguard for it .     sounds like thats the one in will get.    it will just be wheat and saflower and corn
