Can individuals purchase direct from Nelson or does one have to go through a Cummins dealers?

Looking to replace and Muffler on an HD6 Shovel. Hopefully for a reasonable price.  If not I may fab. one from a Edelbrock Center In Center Out Unit and do my own retrofits to make it work.

One other approach would be to use a cast iron exhaust manifold from the later 6000 and 7000 engine.

Any thoughts or comments appreciated.  Thank-you ...Orangeman

Ok, anyone bought a Nelson muffler for a B, C or CA directly from Nelson?

Wondering if the company at this link is the original Nelson Muffler that supplied many of the OEM mufflers on the B, C, and CA's.

Usually, companies like Nelson or Walker only offer their their products through the dealers that sell their products. In most cases, you have to go to say Napa for a Walker muffler or maybe Cummins or a trucking outfit that sells Nelson. Other company's are the same way like Delco Remy, Standard Ignition, Moog and so on. Very seldom do you see a large company sell direct anymore.... HTH

I bought some special order mufflers for a Versatile 900 a few years ago from Vanderhaags in Des Moines, IA (new and salvage heavy truck parts company). The counterman took the time to look through the catalog with me until we found something that we thought would work. I paid for them and he had them drop shipped to me. I suppose the process could have changed since then, but Vanderhaags might be able to help you with a muffler if you run out of other options.
If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done!

Lonn, Steve and Redline:  Appreciate the replies.  I am stumped as to why no one has taken up an account with Nelson to supply the aluminized mufflers.  Always thought that Nelson had a good product.  At least many times better than some other cheapo brands that rust up in a year and are worn out after two years of use.

I will post what I find out after I call Nelson.

Thanks again for the thoughts.   Orangeman
