I have a one owner 48 WD and a 39 b model, my WD is completely original down to the paint and decals, stored indoors all it's life, I'm wanting help with what the serial number actually means

The serial number, WD48073,my tractor is a one owner, I'm the second, it's completely original down to the paint and decals comes with double spoon plow, everything works perfectly, runs great, I'm trying to get pictures to upload

Serial number makes it a 1950, definitely not original paint or decals. Someone repainted it at some point. Wrong color and wrong decals. Still looks good though.

Where is the engine serial number location, the serial number I posted is the tractor serial number

Engine serial number is between air cleaner and carburetor.

SN tells you it's a 1950 and was built between 48072 and 48074, nothing more.

The engine S/N is stamped on the block behind the hose from the carburetor to the air cleaner.  The casting number on the block should be U 3019-31 for a 1950 model.  I have been recording numbers for this block type for a while and keep the numbers here:

Here is a link to an original Allis Promotional video around 1953 of WD-45's coming out of the Allis Assembly Plant.

Note the shade of the orange paint.

The brighter and shiney orange started in 1960.
