Need a prayer, thinking of quiting my job.

Will do, there probably is worse things to deal with on a daily basis but that has to be near the top. I'll pray that things get better and you get some needed relief. Hang in there but try not to slap anyone!!!

I am sending prayers out for you. I hope you also keep sending a plenty. I’m in a similar boat. We don’t have workman’s comp but we’re being forced to take more and more risks each day. Greed has overcome the boss at this company. He’s started using illegals for most big projects. We have to compete but are held to a much higher standard.
I’ve given a lot of thought to opening my business again but I really don’t want that either.
I hope you can find a workable solution with happiness in the end.

Stan, I've prayed for patience and understanding for all involved.  I wish you the best in making your own decision, not one that's forced upon you.  I understand your position.

So far as I know, Arkansas is the only state that has a workman’s comp waiver. We pay $50.00 every other year to wave our workman’s comp. we’re all private contractors. We pay all our own taxes/1099 labor. We’re told what to wear HCI shirts and hats. We’re given 2 or 3 a year and pay for the rest ourselves.
I have to be very careful in how I handle my problem. My boss is my nephew/step nephew and will own all our family land one day except our 5 acres and 5 I bought across the road.
So I also have stock holders.
I may take some pics tomorrow to show some of what we’re asked to do. I have a small crew . They’re all younger and lighter than I but I always take the high work and heavy lifting. I wouldn’t dream of asking these guys to do some of this. I treat my guys well. I buy lunch often and take them shooting often. They also treat me well in return. They are just a number to the boss. To me they are like family.

Seems for years that battle waged within my mind also - should i quit the full time job and do the excavating full time , should i find another job . Well after one slowdown and layoffs at about 28 years, I became foreman on 2nd shift - the several individuals who had made sometimes Hell for me all of a sudden worked under me (Revenge Time) Nope treat others like you want to be treated , with respect . Seems from there I got the job as Plant foreman and Then Maintenance Supervisor for building - made it 39 1/2 years when company sold out and closed . 
 have to say Roxann was supportive - saying it's your decision but think it through as we can do this together, whatever you decide . ( Great to have a wife that supports you but also lets you think it through)
 Problem is these decisions should have been made way back of what the future should be - seems for years I did not trust in myself to move forward or directed my abilities wrongly . Seems I should have done the college at 30 rather than at 60 and changed jobs back then .

Stan, prayers that all will go towards your way. I figured out early on, most times you work for or with an Ahole! Don't let him get under your skin, I know it can be hard. Most of the time they will given enough rope, hang themselves! JMHO, Tracy

You are a slab of meat anymore where you work. Insurance is out of control. Figure out a way to get out of there. Your years of doing a good job for them doesn't mean a thing to them anymore. They are trying to make it miserable for you so you will quit.

Stan, back pain forced me to sell my tire shop and I took a job as the credit manager for the oldest buy here pay here car lot in Iowa. It took me 6 months to learn the state regs and rules. I spent 11 years there, I should a quit 2 years sooner. The boss and co workers were the greatest. I have owned 2 different businesses and have never seen customers like those. A lot of them would do anything to cheat the dealer, and I had to deal with them. It was nice drawing SSI and a pay check too. But in the end I'm glad I am not there. It is nice to stop in and shoot the breeze once in a while.

Thanks folks for all the sage advise.  Wife said to take a year off and then decide if I want to stay retired or find another job.  I guess the unknown of what to do and what will happen down the road is making me a nervous ninny so a leap of faith is going to be needed.  What's that saying?  "just do it".

Well I have made a decision. As soon as the boss gets back from vacation I'll be turning in my resignation. I have decided all the BS is just not worth it. Need to get out before it affects my health. I'm already making plans on projects around here to keep me busy. I want to thank each and every one of you for the help provided.
