I'm in the process of making the traction booster system operational on my WD45. Parts were missing when I bought the tractor but I mainly used it to pull the rotary mower so it wasn't an issue. Fixing leaking hydraulic cylinders led me to where I'm at now, you know how that goes...
So what I need is the Part Number for the spring that connects to the front, right corner of the transmission cover under the battery and goes straight down and appears to go onto a stud. I've looked in my Parts Catalogs, early and late, but don't see it listed. There is a good photo of it in the Operating Instructions manual under Hydraulic System section. I would like to get a new/correct spring if it's still available.

Jim, I can't help with the part no. but pretty sure I have some of those springs. For what it's worth, I don't think any of my tractors has one on it and the traction booster works fine. Maybe the Doctor will chime in on the function of said spring.

70224793 is the p/n and I don't know, but I would be surprised if it was still available from AGCO. Not difficult to find a hardware store spring that would look and work just fine, especially once installed and painted. A-C apparently felt the spring was needed to enhance the performance of the new Traction Booster system on the first WD's, because they didn't have it and it was soon available in a "kit" to add onto the earliest of model WD's.  They started at chassis s/n 667, so that is a pretty quick update on a new tractor.  Yes, I know they seem to work without the spring, but they must work better with the spring. No manufacturer adds on something unless it is a good thing to add, because it costs $$$$$ to do it.

Thanks for the help.

Mike, sent you a PM.

Dr., I see how I missed it in the Parts Catalog now. My transmission cover has an extended flange on the corner with a hole in it for the spring to attach, where the Parts catalog shows a bracket mounting under one of the trans. cover bolts for the spring to attach to. Just another small change in production.

Did a little research on this yesterday, 50% of my WD's, 45's have a spring. My plow tractor, the one I actually use the Traction Booster on, did not have one. The Narrow Front 45 does, I have plowed with this tractor but it was long ago and didn't attempt to use the tb. Took a spring off WD Micha and put it on the Wide Front. Will test this out next time I get the plow in the dirt.

I don't think my two WD's need one as I never use the tb on them.

Checked the parts vault, didn't find any loose ones lying around but pretty sure I have seen them in the past.

Will report back as to the results after testing.
