![]() Hope this image shows up, I had to resize it and I really don’t know how to go about that. I’ve been lurking on here for a few years now, waiting for the right D14 like my grandpa had. Little did I know I would find one just a few miles from my house. Won it on Big Iron this week for $2600. I was happy at that price, seems to be about what I’ve been seeing them go for. It’s a 1960 according to the serial number. Nice thing is that it’s 12 volt, I believe from the factory. Also has rear wheel weights. I’ll have many questions for you guys, the first is what color the grill should be? Black and silver? Also, what is the correct shade of orange for it? As you can see it’s been repainted in the past and I don’t think it’s correct. Where is the best place to get a new black steering wheel for it? Please give me your opinions of this tractor, I’m still trying to learn. Thanks, Jon |

Looks like a very nice D14. I spent a good many hours on one mowing may with a seven ft IH 990 haybine. The ones we had were 6 volt and if you shut it off when warm it might restart then again it might not. It usually refused to start when Dad was already in a bad mood and having to come give you a pull start because you either stalled it or forgot and shut it off did not help the mood.LOL Tom

Grill screen Silver and the bars on it Black? Silver outer part of the rear and front rims. May not pass the tractor police inspection tho, but it would look good.

The border and bars on the grille are black. The mesh screen is silver. Several vendors on this site can help you out with a new steering wheel. Nice tractor! All models above serial number 19001 (1959) are 12 volt positive ground from the factory.

Great looking D-14! Good little work horse. Dad kicked himself for selling his but he did upgrade to a new 6060. Only downfall was no power steering.

Thanks guys. I’ve located a steering wheel from one of our vendors here and it’s on the way.
Another question: is there a seal for the belt pulley block-off plate? This one has a leak. Thanks again, I will be back with more questions I’m sure. |

1957 and 1958 these were all orange as yours is. In 1959 at serial 19001 the grill was revised with a black border and bars. D17 as well according to Norm Swinford's book. (pg. 87) Further changes in 1960 including cream coloured wheels to all. So you will want to confirm the vin to make any changes. Or leave as is - looks great!!
What is your serial number? Edited by Ed (Ont) - 04 Jun 2018 at 9:24pm |
