Wondering what it costs you guys to have two 13" car tires removed from steel rims, two new tires mounted, balance the 2 new tires, and dispose of the 2 old tires? Oops include 2 new valve stems with that job.

I buy my daily driver tires at Discount Tire so I'm in their system. I can bring any car/pickup tires and rims in and they mount and balance for free. Doesn't matter where I bought them. I bought a set of used rims and new tires last year off Ebay for one of my Model A coupes and they mounted and balanced for free. They have done it several times with trailer tires.

Steve, I'm not sure. Maybe just good customer relations. When my daughter in law needed a spare tire fixed a couple years ago I dropped it off and they said it couldn't be fixed so they installed a used tire they had and balanced it and didn't charge me anything.

we deal with a tire store here a lot, and have for lots and lots of years, they have done a lot of my tire work for free on certain items. they want to keep their good customers. back when we couldn't afford to buy 4 new tires all at once, they put on 4 new tires anyway and said to pay when we could!

I have a local gas station that charges me $5/ tire to take off old tire and put on new.  balancing adds another $5.  County here, don't charge for taking old tires to the dump (4 tires/ month)...Wink

Local shop here will dismount, and fix remount and balance a tubeless tire for $10 so long as repairable. The price on new tires is reasonable compared to buying Tire Rack and paying shipping then having to find a shop to mount/balance them, nobody does that for free here.

Bought some new steers for my Allis left them set to harden up a bit then had the local shop install on new rims, with new tubes, just charged me for the tubes and $10 mount for the pair. To get rid of old tires is $5 each for smaller than 17" $7 each 17-20's and $12 each for larger ag or truck tires that cannot be capped or sold as carcasses.

My local tire shop puts a mark on the tire where the valve stem is and will put the tire back in the same position it started. They just charge for the repair if repairing and when purchasing tires, the mounting and balancing are included in the price.

Reason I ask, took 2 tires mounted on rims to my old tire shop, had them taken off recounted 2 new tires, 2 new stems,2 balance, 2 disposal was 50.00. 13" tires on steel rims. I thought thought that was real steep.

With a Sams Club membership they do repairs for free - and I have had them a couple times fix tires for my pickup or trailer that i bring in .
Odd thing is I bought a set of tires for one pickup form a National chain tire shop and had a vibration both before on old tires and after new tires were on truck - had a lifetime road hazard warranty - ah but to replace one tire it was $25 to remove - mount - balance - then $10 disposal and $30 wear charge for amount of rubber used for a $100 tire ..
Later when replacing those tires - bought 4 at Sams - tech said you have a bent rim - in fact 3 rims had runout beyond what they said they could balance or say were safe to run --
Discount tire here replaced a pressure sensor valve on the Sebring - said 3 choices on cost said the $45 unit (lowest cost) was actually the best one and took about 15 minutes to install and rebalance tire .

New tires here are priced as tire/stems/mount/balanced/tire disposal/out the door.---everything is included in the price. I do know that disposal is $5. for car tires.

Local government has a cleanup day and will take tires - they had no restrictions except must be resident and have valid proof of address .
First year took down 4 loads on small trailer - about 20 truck tires 11- 22.5 and other loads of car tires that somehow had accumulated  over time . Following year only had around 25 to 30 tires . They required you stack them in piles no more than 6 high - did have couple tractor tires 18.4x 24 and 16.9x 24 that were out back also ..
Few years back I had taken in a bunch of 10.00x20 truck tires for casing credit - out of 15 tires only 3 made casings - cost me more to bring them in and dispose that got for casings .
On the tire disposal a real racket as they charge you a fee for disposal for each new tire in the price and then charge you again on old tires . So last time i had Pickup tires I kept the 4 off the truck and gave them 4 - 17.5 drop axle tires from off dump truck

Coke all you posted is not 100%. I sold all kinds of tires for 22 years. Stems, mounting and balancing was included in the new tire price. Disposal was not included. We never knew if the people were going to trade the car off before the tires were worn out. We only charged people when they left old tires. If they had any life left in the old tire we never charged them a disposal fee. Some kid or young lady with kids may need an inexpensive tire.

I take my old tires back home, then I don't get charged for disposal fee. I usually donate them to the fire dept, they don't know it yet so don't tell them! lol sometimes I share them with city folks, their garbage man won't take old tires!

Tom I think the desposal depends on the state, I think it is a "fee" added when you buy them out here.

Land of "Fruits and Nuts" is real big on fees. Cause way back we revolted once and pasted Prop 13 that we could vote on new taxes.WinkSo now everything is a fee.LOL A joke just not a funny one.

Walmart charges $1.50 a tire.
 That's affordable.
Might be more for tractor or truck  tires.

Speaking of balancing tires, I just replaced them on my truck and they asked if I wanted spin balance or beads. I had them do beads and at first I almost went back because it vibrated. After about 100 miles it seems a lot better. Is that typical of bead balancing?

I've used airsoft pellets from Walmart in my tires for several years, cars, truck camper and trailer, works for me.  I noticed a little vibration at 70mph in the dually for a bit but has gone away.  Amount of beads depends on the size of tire.

The packages have the size of tire on it. Different packages for different size tires. Just drop whole package in tire before mounting. Last time I had tires mounted, I think it was $4 per tire.
