Mowed some pasture today. I bought this Woods 20' cutter new in 1974 for $3,000.00. I did assemble it myself and put my own tires on it. It's the only thing I ever bought that really pissed off my dad. He said we just didn't need it even though we we were tending about 400 acres of pasture and mowing with a Lilliston 7'6" and Woods 9'6" mowers. Dad said it would never stay together with all the U-Joints. He would not even use it for the first year, but when he finally did,he soon had a smile on his face. Took him 2 more years to admit it wasn't such a dumb thing to buy. I was 20 years old when I bought it and it's 40 years old and been over thousands of acres and never had a U-Joint replaced. Please don't think I'm bragging on my old stuff. Heck, everything I farm with is old and way outdated by todays standards. I like looking at pictures of everyones tractors and machinery and just thought I'd share a few.

I've used a Lilliston 7'6" before. Good heavy mower but all it did was piss me off. I didn't like it.
Good call on your part.

Thanks for the pic! Love the 2000 too! I bought an 8 ft Bush Hog for $7500 a couple of years ago...still a good buy. I put between 300 and 400 hours a year on mine doing custom work. I'd run a bigger one, but it won't fit on my trailer!

Yes Nick,it's pasture for cattle. I only have a small herd. At present-41 cows,37 calves and 2 herd bulls. My farm is 130 acres and this field has 64 acres in it. I got up to 50 cows a few years back, but it turned out to be a drought year and I ran out of grass.

I'm about 15 miles south of Lexington in Nicholasville,Ky. Not much here. If you took WalMart,Lowes and Kroger away there would be nothing left.

That must feel great to mow 20' in one pass. I'll bet once your Dad finally drove it, he felt the same? Great AC 200 / mower setup. Good for you to make such a mature purchase at a young age. Truth be said, your Dad is proud of you. I imagine he fondly talks about you and that woods mower to friends & family.
