I just got a Model d gas road grader. The serial number is D-73 and the number on the engine is DK25U. Can anyone tell me the year this was manufactured? What engine is in it? and does it take the same fan belt as the wd45? Any and all help is appreciated!!!

Sounds like casting #'s, not serial #'s.  Should be a s# plate, where you step up into the operators position, think its on the right side, but don't remember, for sure.  As for the fan belt, can't help you there, best bet is to take it off, and measure it with a belt stick, at the parts store...

If that is the serial number, and it looks like it is, it would the first year that they were made which I believe was 1949. If it hasn't been re-powered with a newer engine such as the G226 it could have the predecessor which I believe was a 203 cu. in which had a flat plate bolted on the camshaft side of the block. That engine was used in the WD tractors. I have seen one that old and the starter was mounted on the bell housing behind the engine.

i was told it is the original engine and it had some paperwork that it was rebuilt in 1992. Runs good, no smoke. So...wd engine parts if I need them should work? It needs a starter button, right now using a screwdriver across the solenoid. Thanks for all who responded. Any tips or additional info that I might need is appreciated.
