How many of you got all your corn down?  We had some really hard rains and LOTS of wind.  Lots of fields are laying flat and guys are out chopping already.  It's BAD.

Hope they can salvage most of it. We have some in this area that is about ready for chopping. One big dairy farmer has probably over 1,000 acres that I can see from the road.

When did you get the damage? We had some last week and I have some corn that is pushed around some. The big dairies and crop farmers that grow lots of corn on corn have severe damage. This happened last Thursday. I am west of Dodgeville in sw WI. It was amazing how much the corn stood back up in a few days but it is still going to be a mess to harvest. Big farmer told me the new self propelled choppers with the rotary style corn heads do not cut down corn good at all. With the low prices farmers sure do not need anything else bad this year. Tom

Here in Central WI we still look pretty good.  I saw some lodging on some oats, but nothing really on the corn.  We drove up 39 from Central IL all the way to Wausau yesterday and I didnt really see anything along the way.  Havent been out and about since that front moved through last night, but what I can see from the yard still looks good.

The big storms were (I think) last Sunday, Monday and Tuesday early am.  Most of the bad storms went from south of Eau Claire and down to Viroqua.  BIG BIG winds......the rain was going sideways.
Just the week before it wasn't quite as bad, but LOTS of water....rivers are all swollen and overflowing the banks.  Lots of flash flooding.  So far this year, it's been a pattern of that same area.
I had heard that the guys in MN had it even worse though.  Thousands out of power so I'm going to make some phone calls and see how people fared over that way.  I hope it's not real bad news.
Ole Mother Nature is not someone to pizz off, she gets even in a second....

Sheesh....that's a bummer about the rotary heads, cuz the conventional heads I've used don't cut down corn worth a crap either! I woulda thought maybe they would do better. Well, I'll never own one, so . . .

Prayers to all farms damaged. Severe T-storms also pushed thru here last Tuesday(55-60mph!)

In most cases, if the corn stalk flexed & didn’t snap, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how well corn will straighten back upright.
If corn roots tore loose and/or stalk green snapped, then that’s bad.
