AC friends. Wife has been having shots in her neck for pain in shoulders and arms. Doctor has suggested burning the nerve ending in neck. Has anyone had this done and if so how did it do for the pain? Thanks Gary

Wife did. It helped some. Dry needling does more. Have to look it up and see what it is exactly.

If is stenosis from C4 thru C7 Cervical then the Steroid injections(Cortisone) will only work awhile before actually hard damage over rides the benefits(Been There), they can deaden the nerve but then there is sometimes lasting loss of contact feeling, steady tingling or permanent numbness. As well will explain just before procedure have been cases of paralysis from this. May want to check around to other specialists for opinions.

shots ( I assume cortisone) only MASK the problem, NOT deal with it. I have a problem with 99.44% of all 'pain meds'. if the pain 'just came recently', try to figure out what CAUSED it, then find a remedy. say it ,hmm..2 days after playin with the grandkids... maybe, just maybe 'something' like a vertabrae got 'outta whack'. If so, then a chiropractor may be able to 'tweak' it back into place and 'magically' the pain goes away. I NOT saying this is it but.....it usually takes me 2-3 days to remember WHAt I lifted, wrongly that aggrevates one of my hernias...ONCe I figure that out, then I do what's required, like NOT try lifting heavy stuff..aka forklift weights for instance.... Uncle had nerves blocked in mid section and for back pains - said he now was susceptible to injury in a band around mid section and back where he could not feel any pain - so could injure self and not even notice or feel it until damage was done or found leaking wound . Was worse than the pain as now had more worries of injury .

I have pain in my arms, neck, & shoulders as well as in L2, L3, L4, & L5. In January of 2020 I started a series of 3 shots to "block" the nerves in my lower back. Each treatment consisted of 2 shots, 1 on each side of my lower back. The 1st series of shots was like magic. I could feel the pain leaving my body as my wife drove me home. What a relief! After about 2 weeks I could feel the pain returning. The 2nd set of shots didn't do much. The 3rd set helped some. Wish I could remember which steroid was used. Wasn't cortisone. The pain specialist wanted to try another medication to actually kill the nerves. After consulting with my family doctor we decided not to go that route. We have nerves for a reason. Why kill them? A spinal surgeon said surgery should help. With COVID & the @#$%&+ insurance companies playing dirty tricks on me, we haven't got that far yet.

Oh my God, I hope everything will be okay, I am sorry for you and for your wife. I also had some pain in the shoulders and arms and also I had knee pain, but I would never accept such treatment. I honestly hope the doctors know what they are doing and the result will be good. Maybe I also would have had such a problem, if I did not start practicing yoga. As I said before I also had shoulders, arms, and knee pain, but I met a woman who recommended me to try yoga. I went home and found on the internet a guide for yoga and started to practice yoga by following that guide. In only a month I had no pain at all. On the internet, there are a lot of guides for yoga, but in case you want to check the one I have followed, you can enter here. Stay safe and have a wonderful day!< ="text/">td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}

Another option to explore. I have had a neck issue for the past 2 years. Pain, discomfort and loss of range/motion in turning my head. Orthopedic Dr. says I think you might be a candidate for Botox. He doesn't do them but referred me to another orthopedic Dr. who does. Bottom line is I get shots every 4 or 5 months and it's helped a lot. More range of motion and no pain. They are pricey and require Medicare approval if that's your coverage. I don't know how private insurance treats them.

In my experience; finding a GOOD acupuncturist is the direction that i have pursued with problems like that! By good i means someone who makes there living from only acupuncture!

Pinched nerves? May just need spine/skeletal alignment? Followed up with muscle massage &/or acupuncture?? And if successful, can be accompanied by routine alignment and stretching/good posture/good supportive sleep/exercise so muscles tone up & hopefully help hold skeletal alignment, thus reducing pinched nerves.
Has your wife been seen by a good Chiropractor? If not, ask around/check reviews to locate a good Chiropractor & Message Therapist. A good Chiropractor & Massage Therapist will understand their limitations & refer patient to medical Dr when necessary. MRI is a good move. Medical Surgery could be considered as a calculated repair/maintenance injury & if so, should be viewed as secondary/later resort? |
