    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 at 4:53pm
I've been hearing on the Bob & Tom radio show (some of the upper post# members might not be familiar Wink) that McDonalds is bringing the McRib back for a limited time Cry December 2. Do these sandwiches contain at least a %'age of pork ? I will admit, for the $$, it's a DA8M good sandwich and am surprised that it's not offered year-'round Wink.

If you read up on it, they usually only offer it when pork prices are down

Just a cut out of a long article-

You see, the McRib is made with certain pork trimmings and there's not necessarily always enough of those cuts of meat to supply an indefinite amount of McRib sandwiches. At least that's what meat scientist Roger Mandigo told the Lincoln Star Journal. "If you suddenly start to buy a large amount of that material the price starts to rise," Mandigo said.

When the price of those tender pork trimmings starts to creep up, McDonald's simply pulls the McRib from the menu and it's gone once again.

They basically sell them for 6 weeks every fall... Maybe not in every State or City... Been doing this for 40 years.

McRib consists of a restructured[5] boneless pork patty shaped like a miniature rack of ribs, barbecue sauceonions, and pickles, served as a sandwich on a 5 12 inches (14 cm) roll. Meat restructuring was developed by the US Army to deliver low-cost meat to troops in the field.[6] The process was refined by a Natick Army Labs meat scientist, Dr. Roger Mandigo, leading to the McRib patty.[7] It is primarily composed of ground pork shoulder.[8]

Heard the McRib story this morning on a great local radio station here in Midland TX, KWEL 1070am & 107.1fm. Didn’t listen to Bob and Tom this morn.
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Personally I don't eat at McD's anymore, haven't in years. Years ago I tried one of the McRibs and imho it was nothing special. Burger King is not on my dining list either. Now if I find a good mom & pop joint............y'all get outta my way.

Thank you will look forward to it. Almost the only McD. Sandwich I like to eat. When in the Military, we had an A&W in Vernheim Germany. Only thing American was the Rootbeer. Couldn't wait to get home to a Big Mac, ate 2 of them before I got outta the airport.

When we (the Mrs. and I), go to a Mc Donald’s, which is not very often, we never ever buy any items containing beef. Fish, chicken, or sausage for us. We’ve told friends and family never eat McDonald’s beef, do your research.

Have only had two occasion to stop at a MickeyDs over the last five years, Once for a coffee and Breakfast pie, another was for a Shake.  Have not otherwise eaten anything from there in over ten years to any level beyond getting a free cleanout a hour after.

I currently work to find that little no Name shop in small towns and cities that ahs a Parking Lot FULL and NO Drive thru.

They were made here in Gallatin, TN years ago. I used to do a lot of work for the facility that packaged them. This place used to make incredible barbque. Like any place else, they have cut corners and taste!  Tracy

I was in a TRUE BBQ joint last winter and they put cole slaw on a PP sandwich ?? I'd rather have the pickle as "their" version of southern cole slaw was truly dry and awful tasting, ruined the entire sandwich Confused.

McMystery meatConfusedWackoErmm  If I want ribs I'll go to Black Hog,  not the clown palace.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.

Yep, regions like their slaw on BBQ. I've had it on pulled pork, not too bad, but I'd rather try it on good southern BBQ.

It all depends on the slaw recipe. I prefer slaw that is moist, w/long stingy stands of cabbage & lettuce, a bit of horseradish, crushed red pepper, touch of salt, splash of vinegar.

This was NOT the slaw you described WinkWink . My favorite slaw happens to be from LJS's Smile
