I have a marvel carb that suddenly started flooding the intake. I did a complete rebuild and it still fills the cold air intake almost to the air filter. Any suggestions or sources for a replacement?

As a general rule, I always turn the gas off at the sediment bowl if it's going to sit for any time.

Besides that, either the float needle must be sticking or the float arm is incorrectly bent.

Did you shake the float to make sure that no gas is leaking into it?

The float could be "sprung" and hanging up on the inside walls of the carb.

Seems like I remember someone posting that they had not properly tightened the float valve or had forgotten the little gasket which allowed gas to leak past it even though the valve was seating properly.

Fer sure, the problem has a solution.

When I rebuilt the one on my d17 it Gabe me trouble from time to ime all one summer. Kept taking it apart and finding something in the seat. In the end i started using a funnel with a strainer to fill it and my problem went away.   Little bits of grass was blowing in as I filled it on the field.

It started flooding so I rebuilt it. Completely stripped and cleaned. All new parts, including the float, checked it for getting stuck. Can't figure out why the fuel is going straight from the bowl into the intake and filling up all the way to the air filter. Was almost a quart of gas in under a minute when I turned on the fuel at the sight bowl.

Bend the float down alot so it puts more pressure on the neddle to close it. Sounds like the new float needs to be adjusted.   If you can't get it to stop filling by adjusting the float the needle and seat are bad or something is in them or the gasket above the seat ks missing or the seat bound up in the old threads and didn't actually go all the way down and fuel is comming around the threads. It has to be comming in through there and the easy check ot so bend the float to lower the fuel level too low to run but prove that the neddle and seat will deal or not.

Or there might be a small crack in the casting somewhere, allowing fuel to flow around the valve to the throat... if he were in Iowa, I'd suspect it more (ice freezes inside castings all the time here), but not so likely in Florida
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

do you have rust in the tank?  That can cause the needle to stick open, but more likely to clog everything up. Needle in backwards? that can happen.
