Got a 7040 PD that stopped moving today. Operator said he didn't remember if he was shifting or just getting ready to shift the transmission, said it all just happened too fast. Anyway, symptoms are: steering works, brakes work, 3 pt arms work.  The transmission lever seems to be floppy, like it is out of shifting fork, but not enough to be in neutral, hi-lo buttons in the floor do not change the sound of motor when shifting between the two, hi-lo range shift lever moves between ranges with no resistance, and the trans lube 1800 rpm light is on! Any idea?

If the high button stays down by itself when you depress it, I'd say the splines are gone on the low range clutch housing. If the high button won't stay down when you depress it, I'd say the gerotor pump ate its pigs.
