i know I need solid wire inside for a magneto, but does the outside matter? I have seen some tractors with like a yellow braded covering that sorta looks old-timey. are they any good? who should I buy from?

does not matter what the COVER is on the wire... The inside needs to be stranded COPPER.. Cover can be standard rubber or rubber coated with cloth, etc.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

As Steve (ill) said the cover doesn't matter as long as they have solid wire cores for a magneto. However there are many different quality of covers to choose from as well as various overbraids to make them look like old fashioned wires.
I get anything and everything electrical related I ever need from John Brillman; www.brillman.com

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

I have the Brillman set on my magneto B and they work great. They are braided, cloth covered, but black.

I build our wire sets specifically for the Model Tractor and each cylinder. As the guys mentioned, doesn't matter what color they are on the outside, it's what inside that counts. Solid core wires for Magneto equipped Tractors. Mine wire is Black with the old time boots on the Mag side. Steve@B&B
