Having problems with Luber-finer on 7060 leaking, so after seeing information on here about just removing it, that is what I am planning to do.
My question is, do you just remove everything, disconnect the lines from the engine, and then put plugs in the holes where the lines went into the engine, or does there still need to be a line connecting these ports to maintain oil flow to any other area of the engine?

My 7050 just has the holes plugged coming out of the engine.

Run some line from those ends under the hood and install a spin on bypass on the side of the motor for easy access. I liked having the extra filtering capcity

Napa sells a auxiliary filter kit like Pete is talking about. You order the filter housing/adapter, the filter that goes with it, and you can mount a new filter assembly in place of the old unit...

Thanks for the replies, thinking as long as there is no other effects other than the extra filtering, that I will just put plugs in the holes for now. Just wanted to make sure that by eliminating the filter I would not be blocking oil flow to another area of the engine. This tractor only sees probably less than 100 hrs. a year, and not real heavy or severe conditions, so I am thinking with the two spin on filters on the right side, and change the oil once a year or every 100 hrs. it should be fine? I may look into the Agco kit for future use.

Jorstad brothers - I just called my dealer and the bypass kit is no longer available.
Buying a filter at Napa or similar parts store or going to a wrecker seems the only route left.
What models had the spin on bypass filters? Did any of the 7000 series have them?
I know the 8000's did.

You can buy spin-on filter add-on kits most anywhere. AMSOIL sells them for their micro filters.

Well Creston,Luber-Finer is a brand name but they were most renown for big bypass oil filters which is why people call bypass filters...Luber-Finers. Kinda like the "Kleenex" thing. Lot of semis and construction equipment used to run them in the 70's&80's.Don't see em much these days.

usually Luber-finer leaks are caused by people re-using the gasket too many times and/ or not getting things tightened down correctly.

Spin on by pass filter # is 777B. When the gov. mandated removing sulfur from diesel & motor oils it really made by pass filters a moot point. Not that the oil is any better in many peoples minds, at least without the sulfur the bearings hold up a lot better. Leon Cmo
