Well, I knew it was bound to happen, spent too much money on it to stop repairs now but the steering finally quit. I replaced the broken brake band, put both sides in and while at it replced the steering piston seals as they were blown. Got it all back together and backked out the shop, steered twice, once left then right then nothing, just brakes and little assist.
Wrote Mactractor, he had encouragement, spoke that the couplers were bad for rounding out, I was considering dirt in the Hydreco valve reliefs so pulled all. Reliefs are free, springs intact and seems fine, pulled pump and this is what I found: Nothing wrong. So I took it to a hydraulics man in Union MO, he set it up on a test stand, 150# outboard, 120 inboard and no volume. Followed that with a net search to five yards, two hydraulics supply companies and Haldex as they merged/absorbed John S Barnes pump co. Sent a random search through hydraulics.net, theirr computer system shows they have the pump in stock, won't know til Monday. 70643630 Allis p/n. This one is from 08/82

Wanted to add, the pump shop I stopped at, they had two of these in the last year come in, mine and one other, they cannot get parts through Haldex, no longer offered and he cannot make seals. He said he would test it but there is no chance to repair it, did it no charge.

Hi Dave
Abit of hopefully usefull info. part p/n 70643630 updates to 6850861 which is a pump repair kit from minpaar. was available some years ago, you,ll need to follow this up. some people in nz got double section [3 section for 6E] aluminium pumps from various suppliers and modified the front drive adapter and connection to take the new pumps. probably best long term repair. output for later steering pumps 7G23732 up was 2.3 gpm at 500psi at 1200rpm early pumps were 1.5 gpm at 500psi at 1200rpm. Just to give you some test figures to go on. cheers merv

Hi merv, got the info and rechecked at Minnpar, no longer available off the shelf stock, is a orderable item but not until there are enough orders.
I posted in the general area on this, I found a company, by strictly luck, in Folkston GA, their web name is Hydraulic.net, they have a 70643630 on the shelf by their computer generated inventory check, and NEW. They are a supplier of oddball, in demand(and some not) often used pumps and can make custom units. Check my post under shops, barns, other as 'Hydraulics'. Thanks for caring merv, I need all the help/support/prayers I can get.

Morning Hector, thanks for the offer but as those may bolt up they are not the high volume pump I have already. I am awaiting the return notice from hydraulic.net to see how bad this will sting the wallet.

Hi Dave, lucky you found that new pump. If the wallet and its owner don,t have too much of a coronary, would pay to get it, as this will be end of all your problems, and you won,t regret it.
cheers mate

I received my return email from them, pump was NLA, their computer system had not been updated(second party contract), they offerred Minnpars' phone number and a alternate p/n, a kit from CNH; the one you sent Merv: 6850861 as a possible alternative. I did another search against the kit p/n came up with dieselenginepros.com, the parts man there(Eric) did some looking in their system and found the kit, it should be here in a week $1800 including shipping but I do not have a clue as to what I will have to alter to install it.

Hi Dave, $1800 of your money i would have thought was too expensive.
kit should be gears and seals. probably not housings, but at that cost should be a whole new pump. possibly would have been worth enquiring about new aluminium pump with a adapter plate to be made up. I got a price in nz a few years ago for a 3 section pump for a 6E with a made up adapter and drive was about 1300. which is about 1000 your dollars. Even a second hand pump. Have a idea HD11E/EP may have had the same pump. Mac might know as he has some 11s. Just some ideas to throw around mate.

Yep, all early hydro steer HD11 with power assist brakes have that higher capacity Barnes pump used on 7G and late HD6 hydro steer. I think well worth bearing in mind that when they dropped the power brakes on the HD11, going to a single pump for both steering clutches, they just threw away the power brake cylinders and changed the brake bands to the single piece type. Brake drums and other parts all the same. May be worth changing HD6/7G to that setup if those tandem Barnes pumps are gonna cause more stress than beer can solve
