With or without a loader. I have a very good barely used 2250 CaseIH loader that I can adapt to it so a loader isn't necessary. Thanks

Tom, Those are the Fiat built models so I think they were made in Italy.  The 6140, 5030, 5020 and 5015 were built by the Japanese.

5040 and 5050 wer built in Romania, Buy Fiat same as the Long tractor. They were good Tractors.
The universal answer to all questions is yes, how much do you want to spend?

There are a couple places that specialize in parts for these tractors and I read at one of these places that the 5050 and 5045 (along with all the other brands they were sold under like White, Long, Oliver etc) are excellent tractors with the 5040 a close second being that it was made in Romania and the 50 and 45 were made somewhere else.

we had a 5040 good tractor the transmission would stick in the neutral. between the two ranges as it only had one leveler to shift . after having two 5050's i would go with the 5050 two shifter levers

I looked it up yesterday and the ad has been pulled so I'm still looking. That one was listed at $7,500 not $8,500 so it was getting close to what I would spend for a real good one. A bit far away but doable for me. Thanks anyway Doug.
