I may go look at it tomorrow. It’s a 96 model RWA with 500-20 head. It has 5000 engine hours with a reman Cummins from Agco with 1500 hours. All sheet metal is strait and clean. Supposed to have no leaks and all monitors and gauges work along with auto header and lateral tilt. The guy sounded like he was maticulous with his maintenance. Just curious what some of you think about the hours. We only farm 250 acres so it would take 10 years to put another 1000 hours on. Thanks in advance.

The engine shouldn't be any problem now. I'm curious as to what happened to the old engine ?? I'd expect it to still be running at 5K hrs. You need to be concerned about the processor cage, cylinder bars, helical bars, accelerator rolls, rock damage, feeder chains and slats, augers, elevator chains, etc, etc, etc,.......Then, there's the hydrostatic transmission itself.

How many seperator hours are on it? If it has got more than 4000 a lot of that sheet metal is probably getting thin unless he has already replaced it.

yep, engine hours are usually a lot more than separater hours.

I think he was an older guy and not real computer savvy. He did seem to know his machine though. He said he had replaced both feeder house floors and chains. I didn’t think to ask about elevators or sep hours.

yeah, depending on crops and area ( some of our customers' machines wear 10 times more than others) you are in the area of auger though replacements etc - crawl under the machine and press on the clean grain trough to check if they are getting thin - the elevator chute that drops into the bubble up bin auger, cylinder discharge chute , throat pivot blocks etc... but if the price is right and the wear is not there or the price compensates........go for it.
