One steering assembly locked up over the winter on my Allis-Chalmers Hay Wagon cat. number 2013954.
Cannot find a parts or repair manual on line for wagon. Removed bolt and washer on top of shaft, cannot get the shaft loose to drop drown out of holder in frame. Need a parts manual shot to pull and clean the shaft from frame down to axle and wheel assembly. If no parts manual PDF available, a "How To" suggestion would be much appreciated.

Torch outside and hammer down. Wire brush and/ or sandpaper shaft and re-install. No manual needed. Lubricate prior to reassembly and put in grease zerk if none (optional).

Have been trying heat and then using a maul to move spindle side to side without success. Will smack it down tomorrow!

Had one of ours freeze up last year and was able to get it done the way I mentioned. Best of luck.

I had a Kory gear do the same thing, I couldn't pound that SUCKER out, sprayed it everyday for months. finally took it to a body shop and they power pressed it out, we cleaned, and used that metal cloth to clean up the shaft, greased it, and it went back together and stayed loose ever since. be careful not to polish off to much, or it'll wave some while pulling.

I used a thin cutting wheel on a 4 inch grinder and split the outside tube right by the weld. I reassembled and re-welded it. This was after I heated for almost an hour to get it red hot. I pounded for another half hour and it moved about 1/8 inch. |

Been there, done that. Exhausting, but it works. Heat, pound, twist back and forth. Nearly wore myself to a nub, but I got it. Do you have a rosebud end for your torch? Get it hot, douse with atf and stuff, keep working. It ain't fun.
