Is anyone lining their battery boxes in case the battery leaks? I have had problems with both of mine and have messed up my paint. Any ideas? Thanks Mike

Years back Honda cars came out with a little plastic Battery tray that goes under the Battery. As time progressed, some of the other mfrs have followed suit. Probably could find one of those trays to fit in the AC Battery box. This way anything expelled from the Battery winds up in the plastic tray and not running down the side of your nice paint job.. Just a thought.. Might even be able to find a Tupperware container that you could cut down that your Battery would fit in. Viola! Self contained Battery box, in the Battery box! No muss, no fuss, no mess....

Any thing you can line with will just be a cover up. Acid will get behind it and eat it out anyway. The reason batteries leak is because your tractor chargeing system leaves much to be desired. Their was someone making stainless steel battery boxes a while back I don't rember who. I put Optima's in they don't leak. and last forever. I'm going to need to replace one before winter but it's been in the tractor since 1992.

Don't over fill the battery and it won't boil over.

I understand that batteries shouldn't overflow but one was a bad battery that came with the tractor, the second was a good battery that I made a mistake with! That being said I am not by my tractors for a couple of weeks at a time and was looking for something that if it happened I would have some protection until I fixed the problem. I don't think I am the only one that has had this problem. Thanks for the suggestions. Mike

Use a dry cell. No corrosion or leaking. Cost more, but worth it.

I put a sealed Deka brand 12v in the C but my WD-45 is 6v and I don't know if they would make a sealed battery for it. But I already have a 6v Deka to put in it.
