I haven't used the 45 much the last 3 years, so last year when it didn't want to start, I drained the old gas from the tank and the carb, put in some fresh Regular gas with a bit o sta-bil.
It started and ran fine but, but seemed to flood real easy. Then sat again for some time before I tried using it again. Next time I try to use it, it pops right off, but doesn't run a second and trying to restart it only got it flooded.
Today I took off the air cleaner cup figuring it needed cleaned and for the heck of it, tried to start it. It fired right up and runs fine.
SO, as soon as I have time, I'm going to bring it up to the shop and remove the air cleaner . I'm thinkin it's probably mostly plugged up with crap stuck in the mesh.
Maybe I can find a job for it to do yet before summer heat gets here.

Charlie, I had similar symptoms with my WC. The air cleaner mesh was pretty well plugged with dirt from years of non-attention, I guess. I spent several hours trying to clean it - improved it but not to the point I wanted. Took it to a local radiator shop and had them boil it out.....works fine now. :)

I sprayed my mesh down with starting fluid to clean it, left it air dry for a bit before using it. I wanted to make sure all the ether evaporated.

My SP100 had issues as well. A previous owner ran it without oil in the cup.
It was just packed. I drilled out the spot welds so the mesh could be removed. Once removed I rolled it out and cleaned it with brake cleaner and compressed air. I then rolled it up put it back together and used my wire feed welder to "spot weld" it. I welded it in the same place where the drilled out spot welds were.

oops forgot about the first two steps. I remember pulling the mesh out to clean it, but forgot about them spot welds.. thanks DennisA for bailing me out on that...
